LateRooms.com - Bilbao Guggenheim Hosts Golden Age of Dutch and Flemish Painting
Fans of 17th century Dutch and Flemish art will not want to miss a new exhibition in Bilbao.
BILBAO, SPAIN, August 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Golden Age of Dutch and Flemish Painting from the Stadel Museum in Frankfurt is to be shown at the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum this year.
Hotel Bilbao guests will have the chance to see all sorts of masterpieces while the collection is on display from October 8th 2010 to February 13th 2011.
Among the names included in this incredible selection are Rembrandt, Peter Paul Rubens, Frans Hals and Jan Vermeer van Delft, whose The Geographer painting is known all over the world and features in this exhibition.
The artistic creations have been borrowed from the Stadel Museum in Frankfurt, which was founded in 1816 and contains one of the most important collections of 17th century art in Europe, according to the organisers.
They added: "The exhibition will feature iconic works by the leading masters of the Golden Age, offering an interesting reflection on how this period - a time of extraordinary historical and artistic interest - promoted the development of new pictorial genres."
Visitors will need to pay EUR8 (GBP6.58) to enter the art space, although students can get in for the reduced price of EUR5 and under-12s do not need to pay anything.
The venue was in the news this week after a group of protestors staged a demonstration against bullfighting by stripping off and painting themselves, before arranging themselves into the shape of a huge bull.
