Five unique races will take part at Palm Beach Parklands during the Beach Festival next month.

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA, September 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sports enthusiasts, keep-fit aficionados and lovers of the great outdoors are sure to flock to the Gold Coast midway through next month for the Beach Festival.

While it may sound like a relaxing event, the occasion - which takes place at Palm Beach Parklands on October 17th 2010 - actually features a number of unique sporting contests, with something on the bill for both adults and kids.

Gold Coast accommodation customers who head down to the site can choose to enter one of five different races, including a 5km run, 1km swim and a 500m swim followed by a 3km beach run.

Meanwhile, youngsters staying in Surfers Paradise hotels can take their pick from a 150m swim and 1km run across the sandy stretch, and a 1km kids' dash.

The start times of each of these events is staggered, so participants can choose to take part in one, two or even three of the races.

Entrance into one of these contests requires a registration fee to be paid, with prices ranging from A$10 for the kids' dash to A$42 for the adults' swimming and running race.

The day's first competition - the 5km run - is due to get underway at 07:00 local time.
