Book Preview: Collaborative Leadership In Financial Services By Catalyst's Dr Philip Ullah, Published October 2011
Dr Philip Ullah, consultant at Catalyst Development Ltd, UK, launches his forthcoming book Collaborative Leadership in Financial Services in October 2011.

LONDON, ENGLAND, September 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today's leader needs to be equipped with the tools and skills to find an effective way to collaborate with others. Global organisations today are highly complex, involving multiple parties, offshore operations, and matrix management structures. To be effective in this context people in leadership roles need to collaborate rather than operate as lone beacons. They need to share knowledge rather than just create it, and to work with others to achieve common goals.

One of their challenges is that modern organisational structures create silos with competing goals and allegiances. Today's leader needs the tools and skills to rise above these barriers and find an effective way to collaborate with others.

Dr Philip Ullah comments: "This is particularly so in major financial institutions, such as investment banks, where there is a constant tension between various parties, both internal and external. CIOs, Chief Technology Officers, and Business Technologists have to collaborate with regulators, Front Office traders, offshore partners, institutional investors, client relationship managers and multiple lines of business."

Collaborative Leadership in Financial Services is a practical guide on how to lead in a collaborative way, and focuses on technologists within investment banking and capital markets. However, it is not aimed exclusively at technologists or at people who hold the very top positions in these organisations. It is also targeted at those who hold less grand titles but who are nevertheless responsible for the smooth running of a complex operation, and who need to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve this. The benefit of this book for readers is an improvement in their leadership capability through more effective collaboration.
